Kapsul proudly partners with leading academic institutions to test our product and conduct research.
Traditional testing is not enough when considering the neck. To effectively test our product, we must consider the soft tissues and skeletal structures of the neck. We partnered with the University of Waterloo to effectively test our product utilizing their Finite Element Method (FEM) Lab. FEM testing allows us to take a digitized and characterized version of our collar and apply it to the same models used by car manufacturers for car safety testing, the Global Human Body Models Consortium. With this testing, we can prove the efficacy of the collar with multiple types of head kinematics.
Standards in Sport & the Neck
Kapsul and our brand partners are in a unique position with respect to neck safety standards. The safety standards concerning neck protection in sport are still in their infancy, which means we have the opportunity to work together to shape those standards. This is more than an opportunity — it’s a responsibility that drives our research and testing.

We take subjective product testing seriously at Kapsul. Every day, we work with brand partners across multiple sports and industries to learn about the demands placed on athletes every day. Athlete feedback shapes everything from our product design briefs to our testing process. Rigorous testing will always be at the heart of our innovation process — it’s how we work towards empowering people to do what they love for as long as possible.
